The Gender & Protection Mainstreaming Officer will be responsible for guiding NRC Cameroun staff in applying principles of gender equality and safe programming in all operational and program policies
Job description
1. Develop an action plan for the implementation of the gender and child safeguarding policies of NRC in Cameroon;
2. Review proposals to ensure that gender and protection mainstreaming considerations are integrated (IASC guidelines) into the design, review and/or development of program activities through gender-transformative and gender-sensitive programming;
3. Build the capacity of program staff, and implementing partners to mainstream gender and protection across all activities at individual, household and community levels;
4. Identify among program staff gender focal points to support each office on gender considerations;
5. Work closely with the Monitoring and Evaluation team to ensure that projects’ data are systematically age and sex desegregated, the outcomes and impact of the gender and protection programming is measured and evaluated for constant learning and improvement;
6. Conduct regular field visits and provide guidance to staff on protection and gender mainstreaming in NRC interventions;
7. Serve as NRC focal point for Protection against Sexual and Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) and train staff on PSEA;
8. Adapt or develop tools to support gender analysis and program design and support the staff in applying these methods in their work;
9. Contribute to transforming NRC as a gender sensitive organisation;
10. Contribute to timely, accurate, and appropriate reporting of program activities and results to the donor, including interim reports and final reports.
• University degree in Gender Studies, International development, or other related field required;
• At least 3 years’ experience in working in a gender and protection-related field including solid knowledge of humanitarian principles and minimum protection standards, P-SEA, delivering training and awareness raising programs and writing reports/providing information on protection-related themes, experience in providing advice and ‘on the job’ support to, and structured de-briefing of colleagues;
• Experience in mainstreaming gender and protection concepts within a humanitarian operation particularly valued;
• Advanced computer skills, especially in Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook;
• Fluency in French and English both written and verbal.

We offer
• Beginning: May 2019
• Duration of the contract: 8 months for Maroua and 6 months for Buea renewable depending on funding
• Salary / Benefits: According to the NRC Salary Policy
• Duty station: Maroua /Buea, Cameroon with 50% of field trips
