Duties and Responsibilities Within delegated authority, the Nutrition Officer is responsible for the following duties and responsibilities under the direct supervision of the Deputy Country Director: In collaboration with the other WFP units (Vulnerability Analysis and Mapping, M&E, Cash and Vouchers, Logistics, etc.) and WFP Sub-Offices, national and international NGOs, Government counterparts, and other key stakeholders, support the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Nutrition programme activities. Contribute to the development/establishment of the unit programme goals, objectives and strategies and results-based planning through analysis of nutrition needs and areas for intervention and submission of recommendations for priority and goal setting. Contribute towards the development of a wide variety of nutrition projects, plans and processes, ensuring alignment with wider programme policies and guidance and UNDAF objectives. Participate actively in thematic working groups directly related to WFP’s nutrition operations in Cameroon. Participate actively in national and field coordination forum directly related to WFP’s nutrition operations in Cameroon. Provide technical and operational support throughout all stages of programming. In collaboration with the Partnership unit, prepare calls for proposals and perform project and budget analysis submitted by partners with respect to WFP procedures and guidelines. Provide technical and operational support throughout all stages of programming. Provide technical assistance, (including classroom training and /or on the job formative supervision) to WFP Cooperating Partners to ensure compliance with the WFP’s policies, criteria, guidelines and procedures. Oversee preparation and dissemination of timely analytical and critical reports including monitoring and evaluation reports; ensure that complementary programme activities are planned and delivered, especially in regard to nutrition messaging and social behaviour change communication; Support Senior Management in fundraising strategies: prepare funding proposals and reports; and prepare nutrition related communication and advocacy materials. Contribute to preparation of accurate and timely reporting on nutrition programme activities that enable informed decision making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders. Liaise with internal and external counterparts to ensure effective collaboration, monitor ongoing nutrition programmes and highlight potential risks to project delivery. Work in close collaboration with internal counterparts and external partners to strengthen the quality of food security and nutrition results monitoring and build credible evidence of trends towards the achievement of SDG2. Seek partnerships with the sister UN agencies, national and international NGOs, donors, and relevant stakeholders; draft and manage Field Level Agreement and Memorandums of Understanding, as appropriate. Promote actively integration of nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive interventions among the relevant actors involved in the humanitarian response to Lake Chad Basin crisis (Government, UN agencies, NGO, communities). Foster implementation of the 2015-2020 Joint UNICEF-WFP Framework for addressing undernutrition in West and Central Africa. Educational Requirements Advanced university degree (Master II or DESS/DEA) in Nutrition, Public Health, Clinical Nutrition, Medicine or Any other relevant master degree with proven experience and skills in promoting nutrition sensitive approach focusing on children and lactating mothers will be considered as meeting the requirement for this position. Working Languages Fluent in both English (Level C) and French (level C) Essential Experience At least Five years of postgraduate progressively responsible professional experience in Nutrition food, nutrition education for children, nutrition programme formulation and management, planning, monitoring and evaluation of nutrition activities, Medical Sales Representation (With focus on nutritious food). Promotion of current knowledge of the latest developments, guidelines and standards, and technology in the field of Nutrition, especially in the prevention and treatment of maternal, neonatal and child undernutrition Experience in direct implementation of IMAM, micronutrient supplementation, maternal health and nutrition programmes and multi-sectoral responses addressing the underlying causes of under nutrition. Experience in carrying out health, markets and/or nutrition surveys and/or other relevant surveillance activities. Proven ability to conceptualize, develop, plan and manage programmes, leadership and teamwork abilities, good analytical, negotiation, communication and advocacy skills Ability to engage effectively at field level with a wide range of actors including those in the international humanitarian community and governments; Excellent analytical skills; resourcefulness, initiative, maturity of judgment, tact, and negotiation skills; Ability to work in a team, and establish effective working relations with persons of different national and cultural backgrounds; Good computer knowledge including Microsoft Office package; Ability to work under tight deadlines and simultaneously manage multiple tasks in an autonomous manner; Ability to develop and implement appropriate internal control tools to address fraud and abuse
