11 months Education Officer – National Youth Volunteer (Only for cameroonians )
Under the direct supervision of the Education Officer (NOB) based in Bertoua, the UN Youth Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
A.Programme Implementation and Management
Supports in the implementation of Education programme activities in the Adamawa and East regions;
Assists in the implementation of the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) and USAID funded humanitarian projects in the Adamawa and East regions;
Assists conduct regular monthly monitoring visits to project sites;
Participates in all meetings concerning education with Government and NGO partners;
Contributes and provides support for the monthly regional sector coordination meetings;
Contributes to education (emergency and development) projects monitoring through data collection in targeted communities, with frequent field visits;
B. Documentation, Reporting and Knowledge Management
Contributes to collect data/findings for documentation of best practices and lessons learned;
Assists in documentation of project and human interest stories for donor visibility;
Supports programme officer compile monthly and quarterly reports;
Contributes field level inputs for donor reporting and annual reports;
Participates in refugees, IDPs and Host Communities education needs assessment missions and reporting.
C.Innovation and capacity building:
Contributes to apply/introduce innovative approaches and good practice to build the capacity of partners and stakeholders and to support the implementation, monitoring and delivery of concrete and sustainable program results.
Participates in the assessment, institutionalization and sharing of best practices and knowledge learned, both in development and emergency interventions.
Contributes to capacity building initiatives to enhance the competencies of stakeholders to promote sustainable results on education programs/projects;
Furthermore, UN Youth Volunteers are required to:
Strengthens their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);
Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities;
Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;
Assists with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Youth Volunteers;
Promotes or advises local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

Required Skills and Experience
Minimum 1 year of progressively responsible relevant experience in the field of education or project implementation and management;
Knowledge in the area of education in emergencies response required, including monitoring and evaluation, supply management and partnership coordination will be an advantage;
Resourcefulness, flexibility, and the ability to prioritise large amounts of work while under pressure
Politically and culturally sensitive, awareness of gender issues, with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy;
A minimum of 1 year experience with either the UN and/or NGO.
